NEW YORK PLEIN AIR PAINTERS (NYPAP as we're often termed)
is a collection of painters around New York State who prefer to 'paint from life', on location. NYPAP
is organized into CHAPTERS, each being of a different location. Each CHAPTER makes its own schedules, plans, and policies.
Hopefully there are times when two or more CHAPTERS join forces.
Some members are 'at large' members, since
a CHAPTER might not be within easy travel for them, or they simply prefer to not paint with a group.
NYPAP
members are admitted as ASSOCIATE MEMBERS.
Artists interested in the SIGNATURE MEMBER category of membership are expected to produce a high
percentage of their works directly on location, and maintain some level of sales through galleries, and exhibitions.
They will be expected to maintain the highest levels of professionalism in all aspects of their painting process. Signature
Members may state their affiliations with NYPAP in their promotional materials, as well as use NYPAP within their
signature. Candidates for this level of membership will have specific requirements to satisfy, as well as a jurying
process to undergo. At this time, we are not jurying members for participation as Signature
Members.
Associate Membership is for any artist with a sincere interest in plein air painting whether in
New York state or in other locations. Being an Associate Member will require the individual to participate
in group events within New York State. Members in this category will be expected to regularly paint directly on site, maintain
a commitment to producing a high percentage of plein air paintings, and positively encourage and support others with plein
air interests. Members at this level will be able to state their affiliation with NYPAP as a 'NYPAP Associate' in
any promotional materials.
Painters from all levels of experience, with a special interest in painting outdoors,
are welcomed as members. All new members join as Associate Members. There are no membership fees
for membership in NYPAP.
